By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The National Meteorological Service of Belize is warning that moist and unstable weather conditions will continue to affect the country, bringing heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds, particularly over central and northern areas.
Today’s forecast calls for cloudy to overcast skies with repeated outbreaks of showers and thunderstorms expected throughout the day and night. The heaviest activity is anticipated in districts including Belize, Orange Walk, and Corozal, where localized flooding is possible.
An Excessive Rainfall Warning remains in effect, and residents in flood-prone communities are urged to stay alert, monitor the weather situation closely, and listen for updates from the National Hydrological Service.
The Small Craft Caution also remains active as winds from the east to southeast at 10–15 knots are creating moderate to rough seas with waves reaching up to 7 feet. Operators of small boats are being advised to exercise caution near heavy showers and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, a trough of low pressure over the Yucatán Peninsula continues to produce widespread disorganized showers and thunderstorms. This system is expected to move into the Bay of Campeche later today, bringing additional rain and gusty winds to parts of Belize and southern Mexico.
Forecasters say the unsettled conditions will linger through Wednesday, with further showers and thunderstorms likely across much of the country.
