By Horace Palacio: The sizzling dry season continues to make its presence known across Belize today. With clear skies and temperatures nearing triple digits inland, the weather is ideal for beachgoers—but challenging for those outdoors for extended periods.
A fresh to strong easterly breeze is adding another layer of intensity. Wind gusts between 15 and 25 knots are whipping up rough seas, with wave heights of 7 to 8 feet. The Small Craft Warning remains firmly in place, and operators are strongly encouraged to remain docked.
While coastal areas will feel the breeze’s cooling effects, the inland heat will hit hard, especially in urban and low-lying areas. The forecast suggests little to no rain through tonight, and the same is expected for Friday.
As dry conditions persist, agricultural workers, students, and the elderly should take precautions. This is not the time to take chances with dehydration or sunburn.
