By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belizeans can expect generally fair and warm weather across the country today. According to the National Meteorological Service, skies will remain mostly sunny with a few cloudy spells throughout the day and clear to partly cloudy tonight. Showers will be isolated, but there is a medium chance of afternoon thunderstorms developing over the Maya Mountains.
Inland areas will feel the heat as afternoon highs soar to 97°F (36°C). A heat alert is in effect, and residents are advised to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities, especially during peak hours. Coastal areas will reach about 90°F (32°C), while the hills will be cooler at 80°F (27°C).
Winds are forecast to remain light and variable, keeping the sea state slight with waves of 1 to 3 feet, making for calm conditions on Belize’s waters.
Looking ahead, similar conditions are expected to continue on Tuesday and Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, in the Atlantic, Hurricane Erin remains a major storm but poses no threat to Belize. As of 6:00 am, the system was centered about 115 miles north-northeast of Grand Turk Island, moving northwest at 13 mph with sustained winds of 130 mph.
Today’s tides will see a low at 1:05 PM, a high at 7:35 PM, another low at 11:22 PM, and a high tomorrow morning at 6:12 AM. The sun will set at 6:16 PM, with the moon setting at 2:46 PM today.
