By Zoila Palma: The National Meteorological Service of Belize has issued a heat alert as inland temperatures are forecast to reach or exceed 97 degrees Fahrenheit today.
Elevated temperatures could pose health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups, as conditions remain hot and relatively dry across inland areas.
Residents are being advised to take precautionary measures, including staying well hydrated and limiting exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours.
Health officials also recommend wearing light clothing, seeking shade when possible, and checking on children, the elderly, and others who may be more susceptible to heat-related illnesses.
