By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Residents in Santa Elena Town and Esperanza woke up to hazy skies due to ongoing fires near Cristo Rey, Cayo.
The Cristo Rey Village Council is asking for volunteers to battle the fire behind Pilgrim Valley since it is nearing the home of resident.
The fire has caused a thick cloud of smoke that burns the eyes and nose.
Those wishing to assist can call 636 6577.
“We will be out there fighting the fire as we continue to hope for rain,” the Cristo Rey Village council said.
