Hattieville Bonnie and Clyde remanded after police find 2 lbs of weed, Glock and 41 rounds of ammo

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A young couple from Hattieville is behind bars tonight after police allegedly discovered over 2 pounds of weed, a firearm and dozens of live rounds of ammunition during a weekend house raid.

Kevaughan Franklin, 25, of Hattieville, and his girlfriend, Tajah Robateau, 21, a call center agent from the Tropical Park area, were arraigned unrepresented before the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

The pair were jointly read four criminal charges: possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply, kept unlicensed firearm, and kept unlicensed ammunition, following the discovery of 939.3 grams (over 2 pounds) of cannabis, a black and silver 9mm Glock pistol, and three magazines containing a total of 41 live rounds of ammunition, along with two additional 9mm S&B rounds.

Both Franklin and Robateau pleaded not guilty to all charges. However, because of the nature of the offenses, bail was denied, and the couple was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until July 17, 2026.

According to police, officers executed a search over the weekend at Franklin’s residence located in Hattieville, described as a two-bedroom structure elevated about three feet off the ground.

During the search, police say they found a black garbage bag containing five parcels of suspected cannabis in transparent zip-lock bags, along with two additional parcels hidden under a bed.

Further searches allegedly led officers to a blue and yellow bag hidden under the mattress, where they found a 9mm pistol with no visible serial number and three magazines—including an extended magazine.

Police say both Franklin and Robateau were inside the house at the time of the raid and were escorted to the Hattieville Police Station.

At the station, the parcels were weighed and amounted to 939.3 grams of cannabis. Police also reported that the firearm was inspected and the magazines were found loaded with 13, 17 and 11 live rounds respectively, for a total of 41 live rounds of ammunition.

As a result, the couple was jointly charged and remains on remand pending their next court appearance.
