By Horace Palacio: The body of Raheem Usher, a Belizean man who had been missing for a month, was discovered early Thursday in San Antonio Village, Orange Walk District, authorities said.
Usher’s remains were found inside a black garbage bag, with his hands cuffed and two gunshot wounds to the forehead, police sources confirmed. His head was wrapped in transparent plastic.
Despite being reported missing in late January, multiple reports suggest that his body showed no signs of decomposition, raising questions about the circumstances of his death.
Local residents first noticed unusual activity around 3 a.m. before discovering the body at daybreak, according to villagers. One resident claimed that a message was placed on Usher’s chest, written on a piece of cardboard, but officials have not disclosed its contents.
Usher was last seen in Libertad before his disappearance. Authorities are investigating whether he was killed recently or if his body had been stored elsewhere before being dumped.
Police have launched an investigation and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
