By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Central Champions Gwen Lizarraga High School’s Harlem Noralez was voted the Most Valuable Player of the 2023 National Secondary Schools Boys Basketball Championship.
Gwen Liz, led by Noralez, defeated Northern Champions San Pedro High School 61-33 in the Final at Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio on Saturday to clinch the NSSSA Basketball Championship
Noralez has been on a roll lately, claiming the Central Region MVP and the San Ignacio & Santa Elena Basketball Association’s Champions for Climate Change Basketball Tournament Finals MVP as a member of the U9 Champions Mayan Man Warriors.
For the Central Region, the championship is a second in a row as last year their Champions Sadie Vernon Technical High School won the 2022 NSSSA Championship 72-60 over Southern Champions Stann Creek Ecumenical High School at the Punta Gorda Multisports Complex in the tournament hosted by Toledo Community College.
