By Zoila Palma:  Belize and Guyana continue to deepen regional economic ties following an information session hosted by the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) for a visiting Guyanese private sector delegation.

The engagement formed part of the State Visit to Belize by Guyanese President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali and was coordinated by Belize’s High Commissioner to Guyana, Gale Miller Garnett, with a focus on advancing investment and trade cooperation between the two countries.

The session was held on January 30, 2026, at the Fort George Hotel and brought together representatives from Belize’s public and private sectors, including the sugar industry, alongside members of the Guyanese delegation.

Discussions included areas of mutual interest such as investment, trade, logistics and agro-processing, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening intra-CARICOM partnerships and promoting sustainable economic growth.

BELTRAIDE delivered presentations highlighting Belize’s investment and trade landscape, priority sectors, investor support services and export opportunities.

The Guyanese delegation also shared insights on private sector opportunities, trade facilitation and logistics, identifying potential avenues for collaboration and joint ventures.

BELTRAIDE Executive Director Ishmael Quiroz said the engagement provided a platform to move “from dialogue to action” in building practical partnerships within CARICOM.
