By Horace Palacio: Police are investigating a targeted shooting in Ladyville that left 22-year-old Jereld Sutherland hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
According to reports, around 11:00 PM on Friday, February 7, 2025, Sutherland was riding his multi-colored beach cruiser bicycle along Perez Road when an unknown attacker, concealed in the nearby bushes, opened fire. Multiple shots were fired before the gunman fled the scene on foot, disappearing into the darkness.
Sutherland was rushed to Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for urgent medical attention. Crime scene investigators (SOC personnel) recovered expended shell casings and blood samples, which were processed as evidence. A sketch plan of the scene was also drawn.
As of now, police have not identified a motive or suspect, and no arrests have been made. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
