Guatemala win 2024 Under 19 UNCAF FIFA Forward Tournament in Honduras

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Guatemala defeated Panama in a penalty shootout on Thursday and won the 2024 Under 19 Central American Football Union (UNCAF) FIFA Forward Tournament in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Guatemala defeated Panama 3-0 in a penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw at the Olimpia High Performance Center (Centro de Alto Rendimiento – CAR CDO) in the Honduran capital.

Guatemala won the tournament undefeated with triumphs over Belize, Cuba and Costa Rica in Group B before facing Panama in the Final.

Honduras won third place with a 3-2 win over Costa Rica.

Nicaragua beat Belize 3-1 to claim fifth place. Belize finished sixth.

EL Salvador finished seventh place beating invited guests Cuba 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw.

The UNCAF FIFA Forward U19 Men’s Tournament was a preparatory tournament for the Concacaf Under 20 Championship Qualifiers which will be played in February and March. The U20 Belize Men’s National Team (BMNT) is playing the qualifiers in Group A in Managua, Nicaragua from February 23 to March 3, 2024 against Cuba, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, and Nicaragua.
