By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Guatemala I’xk’at captured the crown in the 1st Women’s Pok-Ta-Pok World Cup on Sunday at the Orange Walk Multi-Purpose Complex.
I’xk’at rolled over El Salvador’s Kuskatan 1 in the final.
Guatemala’s I’xk’ak won the tournament undefeated triumphing over El Salvador’s Kuskatan, Bdlize’s K’iinich Ajaw, and Mexico White in the first round.
Earlier, Belize’s K’iinich Ahau (Sun god) Women’s Team clinched third place with a 46-33 win over defeated Mexico White.
The K’iinich Ahau Women’s Team won the game in the first half when they were overwhelming dominant leading 40-7. While they only managed to score six points in the second half to Mexico’s 26 points, the Belize team was too far ahead.
In the Men’s Pok-Ta-Pok World Cup, K’iinich Ahau will face Mexico Black in the Final on Sunday.
Ek’Balam Belize will play Mexico White for third place.
