By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The VII U23 Women’s Central American Volleyball Championship enters its third matchday on Tuesday, with host nation Belize enjoying a well-earned rest while leading the standings with a perfect 2-0 record.
After sweeping Panama and El Salvador without dropping a set, Belize have racked up 150 points and allowed just 63, setting the bar for the rest of the field. With six consecutive sets claimed, they remain the only team with multiple victories so far.
Tuesday’s schedule features two key contests as Guatemala and Honduras aim to keep pace with undefeated leaders Belize
5:00 pm – Guatemala vs Honduras
Guatemala and Honduras enter Tuesday’s fixtures with identical 1-0 records. Guatemala defeated El Salvador convincingly, while Honduras swept Panama in their opener. Their evening battle will determine who joins Belize atop the leaderboard with two wins.
7:30 pm – El Salvador vs Panama
Both teams currently sit at 0-2 and are desperate for a rebound. With zero sets won and a significant point deficit, the winner of this match keeps tournament hopes alive, while the loser may be all but out of contention.
As the championship intensifies in Belize City, Tuesday’s results could reshape the standings—while Belize enjoy a strategic day off, watching from the summit.
