By Aaron Humes: The Government will officially open today “the last mile” – the 1.6 kilometers from the old bridge linking Belize to Mexico to the entrance of the Commercial Free Zone at Corozal.

Works were started nearly a year ago with a $1.9 million non-refundable grant from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI),

Then-CEO for Economic Development Dr Osmond Martinez cited a 20 percent increase in traffic into the Zone in 2023 and predicted more as a result of the rehabilitation of this important piece of road.

The project was supervised by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing and executed by RJB Construction.

We’ll have more coverage later on in the day.
