By Zoila Palma: Infrastructure projects across Belize are increasingly being designed with climate resilience in mind, as part of a broader national strategy to address environmental risks.
Minister of Infrastructure Development and Housing Julius Espat noted that roadworks now incorporate improved drainage systems, raised road levels in flood-prone areas, and more durable materials to withstand extreme weather events.

Minister Espat said that this is already being applied to major highways and will extend to secondary roads in future phases.
