By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Prime Minister John Briceño, Taiwan Ambassador Lily Hsu and James Hsiao, General Manager for the Overseas Engineering and Construction Company (OECC) signed a contract for the construction of the San Pedro General Hospital.
The contract is for a grant of US$16, 678, 680 to construct the health facility, which will serve the San Pedro and Caye Caulker communities as well as the many visitors who flock to both islands.
The groundbreaking is expected to take place within the next few weeks and will mark a significant milestone for the Government of Belize.
