Government of Belize and Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre sign Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for North Ambergris Caye Water and Wastewater Project

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the Government of Belize (GOB) and the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the North Ambergris Caye Water and Wastewater Project.

The MOU will initiate BZD 2 million in project preparation funding for sustainable water and wastewater solutions, managing low carbon, climate resilient non-potable and potable water resources for North Ambergris Caye, a critical step toward enhancing the resilience of our communities.

Signing on behalf of the Government was Andre Perez, Minister for Blue Economy and Disaster Risk Management; Carlos Pol, Acting Chief Executive Officer for the Ministry of Economic Development and Dr. Colin Young, Executive Director for the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (5Cs).

Present as witnesses were Mayor Wally Nuñez, San Pedro Town; Cornelio Acosta, Executive Chairman of the Belize Water Services Ltd., and Diane Wade, Head of the Project Development Management Unit at 5Cs.
