Government implements GPS lockdown on vehicles over Easter holiday to prevent abuse

Effective from 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, all government vehicles—except for those designated for emergency and essential services, as well as vehicles assigned to Ministers and Chief Executive Officers—were deactivated through a GPS lockdown system. According to a memo from the Manager of the Assets and Utilities Management Unit Ashton Longsworth – known as the ‘Car Czar’ – distributed to all government departments on March 30, the lockdown was put in place for the entire duration of the holiday.
