By Horace Palacio: The Government of Belize has officially launched the bidding process for the remodeling of Stella Maris School and the Belize Academy for the Deaf. With an investment of $800,000, the project aims to rehabilitate the school grounds and enhance security measures, following the recent tragic incident involving student Gabriel Orellano.

Minister of Education Francis Fonseca stated that the bidding process will last approximately two months, with construction expected to commence shortly after. The project will focus on improving safety and accessibility for students, ensuring a more secure environment for learning.

In addition to the infrastructure upgrades, Stella Maris School will also see a change in leadership. Current principal Francella Cantun is set to retire in April, with the Ministry of Education beginning the search for her replacement to ensure a seamless transition.
