By Aaron Humes: The suspect in a reported rental fraud scheme continues to be sought by police.

As detailed by Indira Craig, news anchor for Channel 7 News, Glenn Longsworth was someone she knew and trusted, and after months of no contact from her landlord, Longsworth’s representing himself as the agent acting on behalf of the homeowner was welcome. The previous management for collection had ended and no system of continuance by the landlord was set in place.

In July 2023, Craig says, she was approached by Glenn Longsworth and they agreed to a deal where Craig would settle $5,000 in rent due and continue making regular payments while securing a renewed lease.

Over several months, Craig transferred a total of $10,100 to Longsworth in both cash and bank transactions under a purported one-year rental agreement.

However, in January 2024, whilst in New York City, Craig reached out to inquire about the purchase of the home from the property owner and discovered that Longsworth was sent only to verify occupancy, which he reported back was vacant. He had no authority to collect on the property owner’s behalf, nor was he forwarding the payments he collected to the owner as claimed. She says that after several months of trying to urge Longsworth to either return her money or give what she had given him to the landlord, she filed a police report on April 12.

The public is urged to come forward with any information regarding Glenn Longsworth’s whereabouts, assisting law enforcement in bringing him to justice and preventing others from falling victim to similar scams.
