By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Security Guard accused of beating his girlfriend over suspicions of infidelity has been freed of a common assault charge after the alleged victim asked the court not to proceed with the matter.
The accused, 37-year-old Roman Petzold, a Security Officer with Priority Security and resident of Belama Phase 2, appeared before Magistrate Mannon Dennison in Court #6 on Tuesday evening. He was unrepresented when read a single charge of common assault upon his girlfriend, a call agent of the same address.
The woman had reported to police that on September 20, 2025, while socializing with Petzold at an Airbnb in Vista Del Mar, Ladyville, he accused her of cheating, seized and searched her phone, and later punched her several times in the face. However, she later chose not to pursue court action and told the court she forgave him.
As a result, the prosecutor offered no further evidence, and Magistrate Dennison struck out the charge for want of prosecution, setting Petzold free.
