The Scotland international has made 58 appearances in his first two seasons at Brighton, having featured 22 times for Chelsea. He tweeted when he left the club: “Once a blue, always a blue.”

The midfielder played 155 times for the club, including in eight Premier League seasons, and scored 13 goals. In 40 Milan appearances he has scored 10 goals.
