By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The defending national champions Georgetown Technical High School Egrets begin their title defence Friday as the 2025–26 NSSSA Girls Football Championship, hosted by Wesley College, kicks off at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City.
Georgetown Technical return with one of the most experienced squads in the tournament, led by captain Kenya Perez, a Premier Women’s League of Belize champion and Belize Women’s National Team midfielder. She is joined by fellow national‑team players Jolene Aranda (U17 BWNT, PWLB) and Kiana Lewis (U17 BWNT, PWLB), giving the Egrets a level of senior‑level experience unmatched in the field.
They open the tournament at 2:00 PM against Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School, the Western champions.
In the second girls’ semifinal at 6:00 PM, Belize High School of Agriculture face EP Yorke High School. BHSA feature Betsy Perez, who also competes in PWLB football, while EP Yorke arrive after a historic CSSSA title run powered by MVP Jeniyah Welch, top scorer LiAudra Graham, and Best Goalkeeper Amarqua Arnold.
The winners advance to Saturday’s 12:00 PM National Final, with the third‑place match set for 8:00 AM.
With national‑team players, First Division standouts, and two champions defending their crowns, the girls’ competition opens today with one of the strongest talent pools in recent NSSSA history.
