By Breaking Belize News Staff: Garvin Romero, a Belize City resident, is spending his second night in prison after being sentenced to five years, three months, and two weeks for possession of an unlicensed firearm. The sentence was handed down by a Senior Magistrate in Court #3 late Tuesday evening.
Romero was found guilty on May 6, 2024, of keeping an unlicensed firearm, an empty weapon believed to be involved in a murder. During the trial, Romero denied possessing the firearm, claiming it was not his despite police witnesses testifying that they saw him discarding it into a fire hearth. Romero was unrepresented in court.
