By Breaking Belize News Staff: Thirty-five-year-old Garrick Hemmans, also known as “Tamalito,” remains on remand at the Belize Central Prison after appearing in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Friday, November 6, 2026, in connection with allegations that he fired several shots at a man in August.
Hemmans, who remains unrepresented, appeared before a Senior Magistrate in Court #2, where he was provided with 19 pages of disclosure and 12 photographs as evidence in the case.
The magistrate advised Hemmans to familiarize himself with the disclosed material and prepare for his trial, which has been scheduled for March 10 and 11, 2027.
As previously reported by Breaking Belize News, Hemmans was arraigned on August 28, 2026, on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm upon 32-year-old technician Emory Williams. He pleaded not guilty and was denied bail due to the firearm-related nature of the offence.
The charge stems from a shooting incident on Rio Bravo Crescent in Belize City on August 25, 2026.
According to police, Williams was standing outside a residence around 7:28 p.m. when a maroon Nissan Murano approached from the direction of Tapir Street.
Williams alleged that Hemmans, who was seated in the front passenger seat, pulled out a firearm and fired several shots in his direction.
Fearing for his life, Williams reportedly ran behind a concrete fence and escaped without injury. The vehicle then sped away toward Fabers Road Extension.
Police processed the scene and recovered two expended 9mm Aguila shells and a bullet fragment.
Investigators subsequently located the Nissan Murano parked outside a residence on Jimmy Dyer Street, where another expended 9mm shell was reportedly discovered on the front passenger seat.
The vehicle was impounded, and Hemmans was detained later that night before being formally charged.
Hemmans remains on remand pending trial.
