By Aaron Humes: On Saturday night, a gang-related shooting in the East Canal area resulted in five individuals being injured, among them a 10-year-old child. The violent incident unfolded when two men emerged from a van and opened fire on a group of people who were gathered in the vicinity.
According to Hilberto Romero from the NCIB, police responded swiftly to reports of the shooting and arrived at the scene to find the victims had already been transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).
The victims have been identified as Errol Tillett, Lincoln Patterson, Sean Reneau, and the minor, aged 10, all of whom are now listed in stable condition after receiving medical attention.
Police remain uncertain about potential suspects at this time, but believe the shooting is linked to gang activity in the area. A significant development occurred when one of the alleged shooters later appeared at the hospital seeking treatment for gunshot wounds, which led to his detention for questioning.
