By Zoila Palma: On December 9, 2025, Belize’s Krismos Bram and Sambai of Gales Point “Malanti” Village was officially inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, as adopted at the 20th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee in New Delhi, India, the Institute for Social & Cultural Research ISCR NICH announced.
The community of Gales Point “Malanti” Village extended its heartfelt appreciation for the recent inscription on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
“This milestone is a testament to the community’s collective efforts and commitment to safeguard traditions for future generations,” a statement said.
In celebration of this remarkable achievement, the community warmly invites the public to join them for this year’s Krismos Bram and Sambai festivities, taking place on December 25 and 26, 2025, in Gales Point Village.
UNESCO’s Regional Director Eric Falt has extended congratulations to Belize and on the inscriptions of this cultural treasure on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage lists.
