By Aaron Humes: Cecil Gilbert Franklin, 52, also known as “G.I. Joe”, appeared in the High Court on a charge of rape. He initially pleaded guilty with an explanation, but Justice Candace Nanton rejected the plea, citing that he needed legal representation.
Franklin, in prison for two years, claimed he lost his disclosure while in lockdown. He is accused of raping a 58-year-old woman at her apartment in October 2024, allegedly holding a knife to her throat.
His next court date is March 23.
