By Rubén Morales Iglesias: In a thrilling display of endurance and skill, Leon Leslie of the G-Flow Cycling Team emerged victorious at the 2024 BTB Annual September Criterium held on Sunday, September 15, in downtown Belize City. The event, organized by the Cycling Federation of Belize, transformed the Albert and Regent Streets Circuit into a vibrant arena of competitive cycling.
The criterium was a whole-day affair, featuring races across various categories, including men’s elite, under 23, masters, women’s elite and junior, men’s junior and youth, and kids.
Leon Leslie, competing in the combined Men’s Elite, Under 23, and Masters 35+ category, showcased exceptional prowess and determination. He clinched the top spot, leading a strong performance by the G-Flow Cycling Team that controlled the race, placing the top four and seven out of the top ten. His teammates, Alexzander Devontae Bennett, Eric Trapp, and Jyven Gonzalez secured the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively, making it a clean sweep for G-Flow. Those four riders are all Under 23 Category cyclists.
Carlton Robinson of Alliance United Cycling Team took fifth place, while Giovanni Brandon Lovell of Lovell Cycling Team finished sixth. Both are Elite Category riders. G-Flow’s dominance continued with U23 Goran Gabourel finishing seventh. Masters Philip Leslie was eighth, while G-Flow’s Hollis Baptist and Tyrin Tasher secured ninth and tenth places, respectively.

The event was not just about the elite cyclists. It included races for all levels, from juniors to masters, and even kids, making it a true celebration of cycling. The community came together, enjoying the festive atmosphere, food, and drinks, while supporting the athletes.
While Philip Leslie won the Masters 35+, running with the Elite and the Under 23, the other Masters categories competed in a separate race. Windell Vernon dominated the Masters 40+, winning over M&M Engineering’s Preston Martinez and SPD Cycling’s Kenroy ‘Smokes’ Gladden. Dwayne Wade won the Masters 50+ Category ahead of Digi Cycling’s Kenny Gladden and Fred Usher. Lovell Cycling’s George Lovell, Sr. won the 60+ Category.
LA Sweat’s Kaya Cattouse won the women’s race, followed by Francine Gigli of Team Lovell and Irene Baki, who was also the Youth winner.
GFlow also dominated the Men’s Junior Category with Jaylen Briceño taking the top spot and Devyn Major holding on to second place. Griga Cycling’s Tamron Morris captured third place. Jaheem Lewis of Valvoline Cycling was fourth and Keith Enwright, Jr. of GFlow rounded off the top five. Major claimed the Youth Category, followed by Lewis and Wright.
