G-Flow’s Jyven Gonzalez wins 2-Fast Tuesday Cycling Race in Cayo

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: G-Flow’s Jyven Gonzalez captured the top spot in the 23-mile 2-Fast Tuesday Cycling Race in Cayo on Tuesday, January 23.

The 2-Fast Tuesday Race started under the cover of darkness at 5:15 am in front of Matus Used Auto parts at Loma Luz Boulevard, went to the Blackman Eddy roundabout, and returned to Santa Elena going on La Loma Luz Boulevard all the way to Sacred College at the beginning of the Joseph Andrews boulevard and back to Matus Used Auto Parts where it finished when the when the morning light was coming out.

Gonzalez’s G-Flow teammate Derrick Chavarria, fresh off the seven-stage Tour of Chiriquí in Panama, took second. Santino’s Belize Joslyn Chavarria, Jr., Derrick’s brother, rode in third.

Valvoline’s Tyler Tejeda won the Junior Category while Jose Choto of the Roger Troyer Treats claimed the Masters Category.

Derrick captured the first station prize at Esperanza, Jyven claimed the second and third at the Georgeville Community Center and Mount Hope.

Derrick then took the fourth at Georgeville Community Center on the return before G-Flow’s Renan Codd won the last one by Sarita’s in Santa Elena before Gonzalez ran away with the race.

Let us all continue keep this momentum going and event becoming bigger and better, Thanks to all the sponsors and donors who made this possible,” Joslyn Chavarria, Jr wrote in a social media post in Tuesday in which he thanked Danny Robert Tejeda, Shan Black, Anthony Reyes, Rita Thompson, and Cycling Federation of Belize President Glenn Flowers for doing “a phenomenal job in organizing a wonderful weekly event”.
