By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize’s junior cycling delegation made a powerful impression at the 62nd Manhattan Beach Grand Prix in California this past weekend, led by Devin Major, who clinched first place in the high-intensity Category 4 criterium. Major’s well-calculated tactics and late-race surge secured the win in a tightly contested field.
Close behind was Keith Enwright Jr, racing with grit and precision to take second place, solidifying Belize’s presence on the U.S. junior circuit. The strong results by Major and Enwright Jr come as the team prepares for the Caribbean Junior Championships in Barbados next month.
Also notable was Ahmaad Cherrington, just 14 years old and not eligible for the upcoming Caribbean event. Nevertheless, he raced with remarkable poise, finishing 7th in the same Category 4 race against older competition. His placement shows the depth of talent within Belize’s youth cycling system.
The weekend demonstrated Belize’s growing momentum and confidence on the road, signaling a team ready to compete with the Caribbean’s best in August.
