By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Racing against tough competition didn’t faze 14-year-old Ahmaad Cherrington, who turned heads with a masterful win in the Category 4/5 cycling criterium at the prestigious Manhattan Beach Grand Prix in California.
After an impressive 7th-place finish earlier in the Category 4 race on Saturday, Cherrington returned to the circuit with determination and tactical sharpness. In the 4/5 race, he surged to the front and held his position with commanding skill, claiming a clear victory that proved his raw talent and racing maturity.
Though not yet eligible for the upcoming Caribbean Junior Championships in Barbados, Cherrington’s double performance sent a strong message: the next wave of Belizean cycling excellence is already here.
