By Breaking Belize News Staff: Just one day after being granted bail for a damage to property charge, 25-year-old Amber Usher is now behind bars after being denied bail for a separate and more serious offense—attempted theft of a parked vehicle.
Usher, a resident of Crown Street, appeared today before Magistrate Ludlow Black in Court #2, where she was read a single charge of attempted theft. The allegation is that on Monday, July 7, 2025, Usher attempted to steal an $8,000 2001 Toyota Camry taxi parked outside BTL Park, while its owner, Ernest Russell, was inside the park with his common-law wife.
Russell told police he left his vehicle parked with the keys in the ignition, and upon returning, found a woman he did not know—later identified as Usher—sitting behind the steering wheel with the engine running. Police arrived on the scene and detained her before she could drive away.
Usher pleaded not guilty to the attempted theft charge, but Magistrate Black denied bail and remanded her to the Belize Central Prison until August 27, 2025.
Just yesterday, Usher had appeared in court charged with damage to property for allegedly breaking a speedometer and headlight valued at $107, belonging to Clayburn Guzman. She had been granted $1,000 bail and was in the process of being released when police served her with the new charge.
Both matters are now scheduled for return on August 27, 2025.
