By Zoila Palma:  The Friends for Conservation and Development (FCD), a key partner in the GEF6 Project titled “Integrated Management of Production Landscapes to Deliver Multiple Global Environmental Benefits,” continues its efforts to raise public awareness about the Belize River and the threats facing its ecosystem.

Over the past two days, an FCD environmental educator conducted educational visits in the communities of Teakettle, Unitedville, More Tomorrow, and Valley of Peace, engaging children, youth, and adults on the importance of protecting this vital natural resource.

Community outreach encourages community participation in river conservation to help reduce biodiversity loss and land degradation along the Belize River, reinforcing the call to action: “The Belize River – Nurture It!”
