By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Boxing fans are in for a night packed with action this Friday, November 29, as Team Belize prepares to square off against Mexican boxers in an international amateur boxing event at Swift Hall, Belize City. The card will feature a total of ten matches, spotlighting the finest in Belizean amateur boxing talent.
Javier Romero, President and Commissioner of the Belize Boxing Council, has announced that the main event will see Belize’s Julian Pacheco Jr. go head-to-head with Mexico’s Julian Lezma. This eagerly awaited bout is expected to draw a significant crowd, rallying to support Pacheco and his fellow Belizean fighters.
In addition to Julian Pacheco Jr. from Caye Caulker, the boxing card will highlight other prominent local fighters such as Kyle Lewis from Belize City and Eulissis Quetzal from Orange Walk, who will step into the ring to proudly represent Belize.
Adding to the excitement, the fight card will also include a women’s match featuring Karol Cime and María Cristal Hernández, both from Mexico. Romero emphasized the importance of women’s boxing, highlighting the growing interest and talent in the sport.
Organized by promoter Orlando Espat, the event will begin at 7:00 pm at Swift Hall. This amateur exhibition, under Tres Reyes Promotions, offers local fighters a prime opportunity to showcase their skills and gain invaluable experience.
General admission is priced at $10.00, with ringside seats available for $20.00. Tickets can be purchased at Cayo CET, Cucina 1904, or by calling 622-7031.
