By Aaron Humes: Earlier tonight, a Chevrolet pickup truck carrying prominent businessman Nitin Buxani, based in the Commercial Free Zone, Corozal, was shot at multiple times in a targeted execution attempt. The incident occurred around 6:00 PM at the mile 8 speed bump on the George Price Highway, just before the John Smith Link Road roundabout.
Investigators report that up to 19 shots were fired at the vehicle, with a staggering 10 bullet holes found on the windshield and an additional four on the driver’s side window. Despite this, Buxani’s driver managed to speed away from the scene and both men are attended to at a private hospital in Belize City, where they are currently reported to be stable.
Police do not yet have a motive for the attempt on Nitin’s life but speculations are running wild especially as he is believed to have strong connections in Belize’s political circles.
Police investigations continue.
