By Breaking Belize News Staff: A neighborhood dispute fueled by gossip and misunderstandings has landed four Belize City women before the court, where they were all bound over to keep the peace after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct.

The women are 25-year-old Wendy Bodden, a call center agent; 34-year-old Michelle Andrews, a babysitter; and sisters Ana Murillo, 36, self-employed, and Desiree Murillo, 34, a BTB worker, all of Belize City.

The four appeared before a Senior Magistrate on Wednesday morning after being detained following a heated altercation in the St. Martin de Porres area earlier this week. Each woman pleaded guilty to a single charge of disorderly conduct.

Allegations are that on Monday, February 2, 2026, the women engaged in an unlawful fight within public view on Haulze Street. After hearing their individual versions of events, the Senior Magistrate questioned what the fight was really about, concluding that it amounted to “nothing”—describing their claims against each other as pure “he seh, she seh.”

The court explained that what the women were relying on was hearsay, which is generally not admissible unless in the rarest of circumstances. As a result, the Magistrate ordered all four women to be bound over to keep the peace among themselves for three months in the sum of $300 each, with three months’ imprisonment in default.

Bodden, who is Andrews’ sister-in-law, said the issue stemmed from a previous misunderstanding between Andrews and Ana Murillo. Bodden claimed she was not initially present but became involved after one of the Murillo sisters followed her into her yard, sparking another verbal confrontation.

Ana Murillo, on the other hand, said Bodden and Andrews intervened in an earlier dispute and that matters escalated when police became involved. She claimed that an incident the day before—one she said she and her sister were not even part of—triggered name-calling that eventually led to Andrews punching at her sister Desiree but striking a police officer instead. From there, she said, chaos erupted.

All four women admitted that the situation spiraled out of control, leading to their detention.

Police paint a more chaotic picture. According to the report, at about 8:40 a.m., two cops on patrol near the corner of Lavender and Haulze Streets observed a woman later identified as Michelle Andrews shouting insulting words toward two females standing on Haulze Street.

Andrews reportedly told police she had issues with the two women, later identified as Ana and Desiree Murillo. She was instructed to return to her yard while officers attempted to defuse the situation.

Moments later, Wendy Bodden arrived and began yelling insults at the Murillo sisters, claiming she was defending Andrews. Despite being told to go into her yard, Bodden allegedly continued shouting, prompting the sisters to respond. Police say Bodden then ran toward the street and attempted to attack Desiree Murillo but was restrained by an officer, who called for backup.

According to police, Bodden again tried to punch Desiree while the officer was on the phone, but the blow was intercepted. Shortly after, the Murillo sisters reportedly ran into Bodden’s yard and attacked her, at which point Andrews joined the fray. Officers, with assistance from GI3 Mobile, managed to separate the women and escort them to the Racoon Street Police Station.

In the end, the court ruled that all four shared responsibility for the disorder and warned them to stay away from further conflict—or risk jail time.
