By Breaking Belize News Staff: Four Roaring Creek Village men have been jointly charged with firearm and ammunition offences after police say a loaded Glock pistol was thrown from their vehicle while officers were conducting a checkpoint on September 21.
Police identified the accused as 19-year-old Christopher Moro, 22-year-old Jaheim Morris, 26-year-old Nelson Nunez and 31-year-old Edmund Pascascio.
According to police, officers were conducting a checkpoint in the Blackman area when the vehicle carrying the four men approached.
The driver was asked to produce his driver’s licence and reportedly told police he did not have the physical document before presenting a digital licence that officers determined was expired.
While an officer was speaking with the driver, police say a firearm was seen being thrown from the vehicle.
All four occupants were detained and taken to the area where the weapon landed. Police say officers recovered a Glock 17 pistol fitted with an extended magazine containing 22 live rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The four men were subsequently jointly charged with keeping a firearm without a gun licence and keeping ammunition without a gun licence.
