Description: Questions in Jamaican Patois presents the perspective of a Jamaican Canadian American woman as she ponders her past, present and the pasts of the strong women who preceded her. Her poems provide a window into the everyday human experience as she grapples with the meaning of love, loss, heartbreak, nostalgia, adjustment, and survival. It is through her questions that the answers are ultimately found.

Yasmin Morais was born in Jamaica and later lived in Canada and now the United States. Her poems have been published in Nursing Science QuarterlyThe Potomac, and Pen and Prosper. Yasmin also self-published her first poetry collection, From Cane Field to the Sea.

Her short story, “Rashida’s Letter,” placed third in the Tallahassee Writer’s Association competition and was published in the Seven Hills Review.
