By Zoila Palma: On June 18, 2026, Oscar Arnold, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade met with Sergio López, Director of the Organization of American States (OAS) Office in the Adjacency Zone.
Director López briefed the CEO on the Office’s ongoing work and activities.
Discussions also focused on the effective functioning of the Office and its continued role in supporting cooperation along the Belize–Guatemala border.
CEO Arnold also expressed the government’s concern with the communities and unauthorized activities that fall within the monitoring responsibilities of the OAS.
CEO Arnold further conveyed the Government of Belize’s appreciation for the dedication and professionalism of the OAS Adjacency Zone team in carrying out its mandate since its establishment in 2003.
