Football Federation of Belize participates in FIFA Medical Conference in Boston

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Balyn Gordon and Dr. Carlos Crespo represented the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) at the FIFA Medical Conference 2024 in Boston, United States, on Wednesday and Thursday, February 7-8.

The FIFA Medical Conference is a platform for sharing scientific evidence, best practices and experiences in the field of football medicine. According to INSIDE FIFA, the conference aims to help FIFA’s 211 member associations to improve player health in football.

“What we are discussing here .. is of crucial importance for the future of our game,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said in opening the conference.

“We care about football. We care about our game. And that’s why, obviously, we care as well about everyone who is involved in the game, in particular the players.”

The FIFA Medical Conference provides an opportunity for medical experts from across the football community to unite and engage in a rich exchange of knowledge, best practices and experiences.

The FFB said the FIFA Medical Conference covered a wide range of topics including player care at tournaments, brain health, female player health and performance, and injury management.

Balyn Gordon is a health rehabilitation specialist who has been working with the FFB since 2022. She has provided medical support to several national teams, including the U15, U17, U19 and the Belize Women’s National Team.

Dr. Carlos Crespo is a Family Medicine specialist who has worked extensively with the Belize Men’s National Team since he joined the FFB in 2015. Initially, he worked with the U16 and U20 National Teams.
