As part of the project TCP/BZE/3902 – Digital Agriculture Services for a Sustainable and Inclusive Agri-Food System and Value Chains- the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) today handed over five laptops and accessories to the Department of Cooperatives in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise.
The equipment will be used to strengthen the Department’s capacity to deliver training and information sharing through digital platforms. In particular, the laptops will support the promotion of the Belize Agriculture Price Information System (BAPIS) and the Belize Agri Academy. Through the Academy, the Department of Cooperatives will be able to create and upload training content for farmer organizations and make relevant information accessible to cooperatives across the country.
This contribution will allow the Department to complement its traditional service delivery with innovative digital tools and ensure that cooperative members have greater access to timely knowledge and capacity-building resources.
The handover reflects the Government of Belize’s vision to modernize extension and cooperative services and FAO’s commitment to supporting digital transformation in the agricultural sector, making it more resilient, inclusive, and attractive to future generations.
