Flames rip through small building in Santa Martha, Orange Walk

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police are investigating a fire that damaged a small structure in Santa Martha Village, Orange Walk on Sunday morning.

Around 11:30 a.m. on February 22, 2026, Orange Walk police responded to reports of a house fire. Upon arrival, officers observed a small concrete building with a zinc roof, located about 10 feet from the main residence, fully engulfed in flames. The structure measured approximately 28 by 12 feet.

The homeowner reported that she was awakened by the blaze and later realized that a fireheart valued at $50 BZD and a Trupper brand wheelbarrow valued at $1,800 BZD were damaged in the fire.

The scene was processed and photographed, and the Fire Department was contacted. After inspection, the fire was determined to be accidental.

Investigations have concluded with no foul play suspected.
