By Breaking Belize News Staff: A house search carried out by police on Tuesday has resulted in five persons—three adults and two minors—being remanded after a prohibited firearm and ammunition were allegedly discovered inside a mattress.
The accused are 18-year-old Gevin Armstrong; 20-year-old Donie White; and Antwan King. They were jointly charged along with two minors, ages 14 and 17.
The group appeared late Wednesday evening before a Magistrate in Court #3, where they were read charges relating to keeping a prohibited firearm and illegal ammunition. All five pleaded not guilty to the offenses.
Following their arraignment, Armstrong, White and King were remanded to the Belize Central Prison, while the two minors were remanded to the Wagner’s Youth Facility. Their next court date is scheduled for May 11, 2026. None of the accused were represented by an attorney at the time of their arraignment.
According to police reports, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, Special Branch Firearm Team personnel, along with members of the Quick Response Team (QRT), conducted a search at King’s residence on Electric Avenue based on intelligence relating to illegal firearms, ammunition and drugs.
Present at the time of the search were Armstrong, White and the two minors.
Police say that while conducting the search inside the house, police observed a hole in a mattress. Upon inspecting it, an officer reportedly discovered a black Glock 19 Gen 5 pistol with serial number AECC170. The firearm was fitted with an extended magazine containing 30 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, a laser attachment, and what police described as an “incognito switch.”
An “incognito switch” on a gun usually refers to a small illegal modification that converts a semi-automatic handgun into a fully automatic weapon. It’s commonly known as a Glock switch or auto sear.
Officers immediately informed all five persons present of the offenses of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of unlicensed ammunition. They were cautioned but reportedly chose to remain silent.
Further searches of the house and yard reportedly yielded no additional incriminating items.
Scenes of Crime personnel were later called to process the weapon and lift fingerprints. The firearm and ammunition were labeled and sealed as exhibits before the individuals were escorted to the Raccoon Street Police Station.
