By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 22-year-old fisherman from Belize City has been granted bail after being charged with burglary. Cameron August, a resident of Baracat Street, appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Mannon Dennison in Court #6 on Wednesday, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
August is accused of breaking into a home in Morters Alley on September 17, 2025, and stealing items valued at $1,510, including a laptop computer, two knives (a pocket knife and a hunting knife), a Coach purse, and $100 in cash.
According to the court record, August initially considered pleading guilty but changed his plea to not guilty after explaining his situation to the magistrate.
The prosecutor objected to bail, citing the prevalence of burglary and the steady increase of such offenses across the city. However, Magistrate Dennison overruled the objection and granted bail in the sum of $5,000 plus two sureties of $2,500 each, which August later met.
As part of his bail conditions, August must not contact the complainant or any family members, must stay at least 100 feet away from them, and must report weekly to the Racoon Street Police Station every Friday starting October 17, 2025. He is also ordered not to be arrested or charged for any similar offenses while on bail.
Cameron August is scheduled to return to court on December 2, 2025.
