Fisherman busted with crack pipe for second time in months

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Fifty-seven-year-old fisherman Sananselmo Torres was lucky to be spared jail time after being busted with a crack cocaine for the second time in a matter of months and given a fine of $200.

Torres appeared in court unrepresented on Monday and immediately plead3ed guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled drug. He was fined $200 plus $5 cost of court.

He is lucky as jail time may be the sentence for repeat offenders and Torres had recently been charged in December 2023 for possession of 0.5 grams of crack cocaine. Torres begged for mercy stating that he has children to care for.
