By Rubén Morales Iglesias: On Wednesday, the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup delivered a thrilling slate of matches across the United States, with Juventus putting on a show but Real Madrid being stunned by Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal. Here’s how the action unfolded.

Manchester City 2–0 Wydad AC

Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia

City opened their campaign with a confident 2–0 win over Wydad AC. Phil Foden struck in the 2nd minute, and Jérémy Doku added a second in the 42nd. Despite a late red card to Rico Lewis, the Premier League champions controlled the match from start to finish.

Real Madrid 1–1 Al Hilal

Hard Rock Stadium, Miami

Real Madrid were held to a 1–1 draw by a resilient Al Hilal side in their Group H opener. Gonzalo García opened the scoring in the 34th minute, finishing off a low cross from Rodrygo with a deflected shot that wrong-footed the keeper. But Al Hilal responded swiftly: Rúben Neves converted a penalty in the 41st minute after Marcos Leonardo was brought down in the box. Madrid dominated possession and had a golden chance to win it late, but Yassine Bounou saved Federico Valverde’s penalty to preserve the draw.

RB Salzburg 2–1 Pachuca

TQL Stadium, Cincinnati

Oscar Gloukh opened the scoring in the 41st minute with a brilliant solo effort. Bryan González equalized for Pachuca in the 56th with a stunning free kick, but Karim Onisiwo sealed the win for Salzburg in the 76th minute with a powerful header.

Juventus 5–0 Al Ain

Audi Field, Washington, D.C.

Juventus delivered a statement win with goals from Randal Kolo Muani (11’, 45’+4), Francisco Conceição (21’, 58’), and Kenan Yildiz (31’). The Italian side were relentless, overwhelming Al Ain with pace and precision.
