By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Football Federation of Belize’s (FFB) Director of Referees, Eugene Contreras, represented Belize at the 2025 Concacaf Head of Refereeing Workshop held on Thursday, September 18, at Concacaf Headquarters in Miami, Florida.
The FFB reported that the one-day workshop convened refereeing leaders from across the region to evaluate and enhance strategies for referee development. Key topics included assessment programs, FIFA nominations, and updates to the Laws of the Game. Participants also engaged in technical sessions that reviewed officiating performance during the 2025 Gold Cup and laid the groundwork for preparations ahead of 2026 competitions.

“We congratulate Mr. Contreras for his active participation and look forward to the positive impact this knowledge will bring to our referees and competitions nationwide,” the FFB said.
Contreras’s participation is an integral part of the FFB’s presence in regional football governance and its commitment to elevating the standards of officiating at home. His involvement in high-level discussions and technical reviews is expected to bring valuable insights to Belize’s refereeing community.
“FFB remains committed to strengthening refereeing in Belize through continuous education, professional development, and collaboration with Concacaf and FIFA,” Belize’s football ruling body said.
