By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) on Tuesday released the weekend schedule for the National Amateur Interdistrict Championship.
The matches actually kick off on Thursday when Caesar Ridge FC tackle Belmopan’s Napoles in Leg 1 of their series at 6:00 pm at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex in Belize City.
The match was scheduled for two Sundays ago, but was called off due to rain. Caesar Ridge had planned to play it last Saturday but it rained again in Belize City so they had to settle for Thursday.
The second-leg games will be played on Saturday and Sunday. Out of the eight pairings, Mi Gente and MidSouth’s Garage FC have already completed theirs, with Mi Gente advancing on a 6-5 aggregate score. Mi Gente won 4-2 two weeks ago and fell 3-2 last Saturday at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence.
Seven Miles will kick off the Round of 16 Leg 2 with their revenge match against Belmopan’s Club Atletico at 4:00 pm on Saturday at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio. Atletico won Game One 2-1 in Belmopan.
The second game will feature Legends hosting Belize City’s Tut Bay at the Victor Sanchez Union Field in Punta Gorda at 7:00 pm. Legends won the first leg 3-2 in Belize City last Sunday.
The third Saturday game will feature New Site Hustlers taking on the San Pedro Conquerors at the Carl Ramos Stadium also at 7:00 pm. The series is tied at 1-1.
On Sunday, Yo Creek United and Corozal’s Calcutta Bulls will look to untie the 2-2 score when they meet at 4:00 pm at the people’s Stadium in Orange Walk Town.
Griga Conquerors, who drew 0-0 in the first leg with the Midsouth’s 501 Spartans, will face them again, but this time at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga. The match kicks off at 4:30 pm.
Belmopan’s Napoles will close their series against Caesar Ridge at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan at 6:00 pm.
The final Sunday game will be staged 6:30 pm at Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro. Terror Squad will be looking to overturn a 3-1 adverse score against Corozal’s Copper Bank.
