By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) has officially kicked off the 2025 edition of its Boy’s U15 and Men’s U17 Elite Championships, a new chapter in the Federation’s High Performance Program. Running from Saturday, June 28 to Saturday, July 19, the championships aim to elevate youth football by uniting Belize’s nine football regions in an intensive, development-centered competition.
The FFB said each category brings together high-performance teams trained under professional coaching standards, emphasizing technical skills, tactical growth, fitness, and mental toughness. The goal: cultivating a new generation of elite players ready to step up to higher levels of the game.
The Boy’s U15 tournament features nine teams grouped into:
- Group A: Toledo, Midsouth, Stann Creek, Belmopan, and Cayo
- Group B: Corozal, Orange Walk, San Pedro, and Belize
In the Men’s U17 division, ten teams are evenly divided into:
- Group A: Toledo, Midsouth, Stann Creek, Belmopan, and Cayo
- Group B: Corozal, Orange Walk, San Pedro, Belize, and the National U15 Team
Both tournaments follow a round robin format, awarding three points for a win, one for a draw, and none for a loss. The top two teams in each group will progress to the semifinals, culminating in a championship final that crowns the nation’s best in each age group.
The championships kick off with exciting first-round fixtures in both categories.
U15 Opening Matches
- Friday, June 27
- Belize vs Orange Walk, 1:30 PM at Marion Jones Stadium
- Resting: Corozal & San Pedro
- Saturday, June 28
- Cayo vs Midsouth, 1:30 PM at Norman Broaster Stadium
- Stann Creek vs Belmopan, 1:30 PM at Carl Ramos Stadium
- Resting: Toledo
U17 Opening Matches
- Thursday, June 27
- Belize vs Orange Walk, 1:30 PM at Marion Jones Stadium (Group B)
- Friday, June 28
- Cayo vs Midsouth, 1:30 PM at Norman Broaster Stadium (Group A)
- Stann Creek vs Belmopan, 1:30 PM at Carl Ramos Stadium (Group A)
- San Pedro vs National U15, 1:30 PM at Ambergris Stadium (Group B)
